THE GRASS GARMENT

The consequences of human-centered design, like the fast fashion industry, are becoming more noticeable by the day. Approaches like more-than-human design aim to decenter the human, to minimize the negative impact on nonhumans and the environment, and call for collaboration with nonhumans. The Grass Garment is my exploration of a jacket to explore the entire life of a clothing piece. Made from grass with the traditional paper-making technique, it has a clear "before-life", and is designed to have an after-life. Using only natural materials and grass seeds, the jacket can be returned to the place the grass originally came from and regrow.
